The most common material for sails to be manufactured from is a Commercial Shade Mesh - this is a fabric designed specifically for shade sails, which has excellent strength and durability (it includes a 10 year warranty from the manufacturer against U.V. degradation) - available in a wide choice of colours.
Also available is a range of water proof fabrics.
High tenacity, U.V. stabilized polyester webbing in all edges. For extra U.V. protection the edge webbing's are completely enclosed by folding the material around the webbing. All seams are triple stitched using extra heavy duty U.V. stabilized thread. Other methods seen in the industry which we consider unsatisfactory are; leaving the webbing exposed thus inviting U.V. breakdown - a common problem with polyester and the use of wires in the edge this results in time with the wires cutting through the edge of the fabric. Available as an option (5% on the cost of the sail) is the use of tenara thread, this thread offers excellent U.V. qualities and is backed up by it's manufacturer's 15 year warranty.
